About this blog
This blog will follow my exploits in SWL’ing (Shortwave Listening) and now that I am licensed, amateur radio. I sometimes like to do video’s for YouTube, they could be anything from listening on the receiver, decoding or operating on my Kenwood TS-480SAT using JT65 digital mode.
You can also view my logbook and eQSL cards that I have received.
I have some sort of interest in photography and will upload albums occasionally, they could range from days out to holidays.
I also like to watch funny video’s on the internet and will post any I find here.
I am from Solihull in the central part of England. I live with my wife and two children.
I work for a famous 4×4 manufacturer here in Solihull.
My interests include SWL (Shortwave Listening), amateur radio, photography, gaming on both PC and Xbox One and also supporting my favourite football team, Birmingham City.
Just having a quick listen around the bands and came across KE5EE coming in loud and proud from Florida. Listening to him describe his antenna setup led me to look him up on QRZ and to be honest I was quite gobsmacked when I saw the pics of his antenna farm and his own description…Details

My Shack…… hmmm can you really call it a shack? Compared to some shacks on the QRZ website it’s what I would describe as compact :). Just a small computer desk in the living room which measures barely 1m in width. The desk was originally used for my gaming pc which I still use but not so much for gaming these days.Details
I was setting up my RTL-SDR dongle to use the OpenWebRX software via the sdr.hu website, a very popular site for online SDR Receivers.
Whilst listening on 160m I stumble across a local station, G3YXM, participating in the annual club call contest.
Sounds like he had a long day with plenty of fun…………. 🙂Details
This video shows my first attempt at using the RSP1 software defined radio along with the HDSDR software to feed CW Skimmer. CW Skimmer is described as a multi channel decoder and analyzer and can be found on the DX Atlas site: http://www.dxatlas.com/cwskimmer/ The audio is fed from the SDRPlay RSP1 via a virtual audio…Details
The joys of radio! There’s so many weird and wonderful sounds you can hear on the airwaves apart from voice transmissions including a vast amount of digital modes, one of these is DRM. DRM stands for Digital Radio Mondiale, a digital radio format that claims to deliver FM comparable sound quality on bands below 30MHz.…Details
